Black Friday for B2B SaaS: What Works, What Doesn’t, and When to Start

Facebook ads for SaaS

Every November, SaaS companies roll out Black Friday deals. Discounted annual plans, free months, lifetime offers. And somewhere along the way, B2B marketers start wondering whether they’re leaving money on the table by not joining in.

But here’s the catch.

Your B2B customers might be too busy running their own Black Friday campaigns to care about yours.

And even if they see your offer, a 30% discount won’t convince an enterprise buyer to skip procurement and three rounds of approvals.

Black Friday can work for B2B SaaS, but not for every product, audience, or sales cycle.

So, when is it actually worth the budget? Let’s look at the timing, offers, real campaign examples, and CPLs to figure out what works and what doesn’t.

Should Your B2B SaaS Run a Black Friday Campaign?

Not every SaaS product is a good fit for Black Friday. And the deciding factor isn’t how generous your discount is.

It’s how quickly your customers can make a buying decision.

Black Friday campaigns tend to make more sense when:

  • Your product has a relatively low price point. A $29/month subscription is easier to purchase on impulse than a $20,000 annual contract.

  • Your sales cycle is short. If someone can sign up, test the product, and pay without involving five other people, a limited-time offer can help close the deal.

  • You target SMBs, freelancers, or individual professionals. These buyers often have more control over purchasing decisions and are more accustomed to seasonal deals.

The opposite is true for enterprise SaaS.

If your typical deal involves multiple demos, procurement approvals, and security reviews, a Black Friday discount probably won’t move the needle much. The buying process is simply too long.

✨Our take

If your customers can discover, evaluate, and purchase your product within days, Black Friday is worth testing. If closing a deal takes months, your acquisition budget may be better spent elsewhere.

We've seen this difference with our own clients.

Take Intelis, for example. Its pricing and SMB-focused audience make it a much better fit for seasonal promotions. Smaller businesses can make purchasing decisions faster, without going through multiple approval stages.

In our campaign, we generated 200+ installs at just $10 per install, showing how a well-timed offer can attract customers when the buying process is relatively straightforward.

Now compare that with Tekst, where deals start at $30,000+ and the ideal customer profile is enterprise businesses.

A Black Friday discount isn't going to speed up a purchasing process involving multiple decision-makers, budget approvals, and procurement.

Black Friday campaigns from known B2B SaaS companies

Not every successful Black Friday campaign needs a 50% OFF banner.

Some SaaS brands use the season to showcase their product. Others add value without lowering prices. And some skip the discounts altogether.

Here are some approaches worth looking at.

Shopify: Turn Customer Success Into a Campaign

Shopify takes Black Friday marketing to another level. Literally.

Every year, its Live Globe visualizes purchases made by Shopify merchants worldwide in real time.

And Shopify doesn't keep the experience on its website.

In 2025, the globe returned to the massive Las Vegas Sphere. Shopify also turned it into an interactive pinball experience with AR support, published live updates throughout Black Friday, and amplified the campaign through social media.

What we like: Shopify isn't trying to sell a discounted subscription. It's showing the scale of its platform and the success of the businesses using it.

The campaign combines real-time product data, outdoor advertising, interactive experiences, and social content into one story.

For B2B SaaS marketers, it's a reminder that Black Friday can be about demonstrating product value, not just offering a lower price.

Ahrefs: No Black Friday Deal. On Purpose.

While competitors compete for attention with seasonal offers, Ahrefs takes the opposite approach.

According to its official Help Center, the company doesn't offer Black Friday discounts, Cyber Monday specials, or promotional codes.

Its only regular savings come from annual billing, which costs almost 20% less than paying monthly.

What we like: Ahrefs keeps its pricing consistent throughout the year. Customers don't have to wonder whether they should wait until November to subscribe.

Of course, there's a trade-off. Competitors can use Black Friday promotions to attract buyers actively searching for Ahrefs deals.

But for an established SaaS brand with strong positioning, maintaining pricing consistency can be a deliberate strategy.

The takeaway? There's no single Black Friday playbook for B2B SaaS.

Shopify builds awareness through customer success. Ahrefs chooses not to participate.

The right approach depends on what you're trying to achieve: more signups, better activation, stronger brand positioning, or long-term revenue.

Black Friday Landing Page Best Practices

A great Black Friday ad can get people to click. But if the landing page makes them work to understand the offer, you're probably losing conversions.

Here's an example from one of our own campaigns.

Repurpose.io: Make It Easy for Returning Customers to Say Yes

For Repurpose.io's Black Friday campaign, we built a landing page specifically for returning customers.

And we kept things simple.

No lengthy product pitch. Just the offer.

These users already knew Repurpose.io. They didn't need another explanation of how the platform works. They needed a reason to come back.

Here's how we approached it:

  • Lead with the savings. The $100 discount appears immediately, addressing a potential reason customers left in the first place: price.

  • Make the promo code part of the experience. The code "Friend249" feels like an insider offer, reinforces the $249 price, and comes with a click-to-copy interaction.

  • Show the value in different ways. The original $349 price is crossed out in favor of $249, while the same savings are presented as three months free.

  • Remove unnecessary decisions. One plan, one offer, and one CTA repeated three times. No competing options or distracting navigation.

  • Keep social proof simple. The page highlights 351,400+ creators and includes a customer testimonial to reassure returning users.

What we like: Every element serves the same purpose: making the decision to return as easy as possible.

And that's the lesson for Black Friday landing pages. You don't always need more content, more features, or more convincing.

Sometimes, especially with warm audiences, you just need to remove the reasons people hesitate to buy.

The Best Time to Launch Your Black Friday Campaign Isn’t Black Friday

Here’s something we’ve learned from running B2B campaigns: waiting until Black Friday to launch your offer can mean showing up when your audience is least likely to pay attention.

Think about it. If you’re targeting eCommerce businesses, marketing agencies, or other companies preparing for Black Friday, their teams are already buried in campaigns, promotions, and last-minute fixes.

Your discounted SaaS subscription probably isn’t their top priority.

That’s why we recommend launching your Black Friday campaign around two weeks earlier.

Here’s how we’d approach it:

  • 2 weeks before: Launch your main offer while buyers still have time to evaluate it.

  • Black Friday week: Retarget people who clicked, visited your landing page, or started signing up but didn’t convert.

  • Cyber Monday: Give interested prospects one final reason to act with a clear deadline.

And the data shows just how differently SaaS brands approach the season.

According to Sprites.ai's analysis of 841 Black Friday 2025 ads, the median ad ran for just 8 days. But some campaigns stayed active for months, including ads from Holo (217 days) and Perspective (164 days). Honestly, that’s a bit too long for this sort of campaign.

Our Best-Performing Seasonal Campaigns (And Why They Work)

We've also tested seasonal campaigns ourselves, and here's what we've learned: a timely offer with the right message can do more than another generic discount.

Givecloud: Make the Most of Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It's one of the biggest fundraising opportunities of the year for nonprofits.

For Givecloud, a fundraising platform, we built a series of creatives around this occasion.

Instead of pushing discounts, the ads focused on helping nonprofits prepare for Giving Tuesday, reach more donors, and run better campaigns.

Why it works: The messaging connects the product to something the audience already cares about. There's a clear deadline, a relevant need, and a reason to act now rather than later.

Repurpose.io: Give Customers a Reason to Come Back

For Repurpose.io, we took a more direct approach: $100 off with the promo code FRIEND249.

The creative puts the savings front and center, while the limited-time offer creates urgency for customers who already know the product.

Why it works: Short-term offers give hesitant buyers a reason to reconsider. And when the audience is already familiar with the product, a clear discount can do more than another lengthy sales pitch.

💡As a result, our seasonal campaigns generated 4x more qualified pipeline, showing what can happen when the offer, audience, and timing come together.

Black Friday CPLs: What Should You Expect to Pay?

Here's where things get interesting.

Black Friday might bring more clicks and signups, but does that mean you're acquiring customers more efficiently?

Not necessarily.

There's no universal Black Friday CPL benchmark for B2B SaaS. Your costs will depend on the audience, platform, competition, and, most importantly, what you're asking people to sign up for.

A free trial and a demo request aren't going to generate the same CPL. And a discounted subscription can attract bargain hunters who disappear the moment the regular price kicks in.

Here's what we'd actually track:

  • CPL vs. your usual baseline: Are you acquiring leads more efficiently than during a regular campaign?

  • Lead-to-paid conversion rate: How many promotional signups become paying customers?

  • Customer acquisition cost (CAC): Does the discount still make financial sense after accounting for ad spend?

  • Retention after the promotion: Are customers sticking around once the introductory offer expires?

✨Our advice? Set your acceptable CAC before launching and compare Black Friday results against your regular campaigns.

A $20 lead that never converts isn't necessarily better than an $80 lead that becomes a long-term customer.

Don't Stop at Black Friday: Make Cyber Monday Your Final Push

If someone clicked your Black Friday ad, explored your pricing, or started a trial without purchasing, the conversation isn't necessarily over.

That's where your Thanksgiving-week follow-up strategy comes in.

Instead of pushing the same discount to everyone, segment your remarketing audiences based on what they've already done:

  • Landing page visitors: Remind them of the offer and highlight the product benefit they may have missed.

  • Trial users: Show them what they'll unlock by upgrading before the promotion ends.

  • Checkout abandoners: Address common objections and remind them of the genuine deadline.

Then use Cyber Monday as the final conversion opportunity.

You could extend the original offer until Monday, introduce a relevant bonus, or provide one last chance to lock in promotional pricing.

Just don't manufacture urgency. If your "final offer" keeps returning every week, customers will eventually stop believing it.

And remember to exclude people who've already purchased. They don't need another acquisition ad.

The Bottom Line: Is Black Friday Worth It for B2B SaaS?

Black Friday can work for B2B SaaS. But a discount alone isn't a strategy.

The companies with the clearest opportunity are those selling products with shorter buying cycles, straightforward pricing, and audiences that can make purchasing decisions quickly.

Start before the holiday rush, test different offers and creatives, and measure what happens after the initial conversion.
